Court Clerk Responsibilities

In Sumner County, the Circuit Court Clerk is charged with the responsibility of maintaining the records of the Circuit Courts, which includes, General Sessions, Juvenile, Criminal and Circuit Court.  The Clerk manages all employees of those offices as well as the budget for the office which includes fees and fines collected through the various courts.  The Clerk is responsible for getting files from the clerk’s office to the court of appeals once a case has been appealed.  The Clerk works closely with the deputy and assistant clerks as well as with the Judges in order to properly maintain the records.
